Open in the evening from 4:30 to 8:30 pm everyday except for Sundays, this eatery is located at Vaduthala, opposite K.R Bakery.
Puttu one of the staple breakfast dishes of Kerala, has such a huge fan following, you can see many small shops all over the state serving just this one dish with variety of side dishes. Some of these places have achieved iconic status in the minds of local foodies over the course of time. George Chettante Kada, a small one room shop, located at Vaduthala is one such eatery.
Started back in 1990, this small shop right beside Mr George’s home has been serving Puttu with either Beef Stew or Potti to their customers. Steaming Puttu and one of their side dishes make an awesome combination to try. Puttu made fresh and served hot is really one of a kind that crumbles into its granular for with just a touch.
Beef stew is one of those dishes that are usually unheard of in regular restaurants. Mutton Stew, chicken stew all is very common but nobody usually prepares beef cooked in coconut milk gravy and potato. People in Kerala like there beef dishes hot and spicy can be a main reason for this trend. May be thats why, the Beef Stew from this restaurant with its mildly spicy, milky taste is a welcome change and experience.
Even though it might look intimidating, Potti Curry from this eatery is also only mildly spicy and has a distinctive flavour that is easily loved by anyone who tries it. This dark brown gravy dish is also a rare dish in Ernakulam and it truly lives upto all the expectations.
This restaurant is located 50 meters down Kotheri Road, directly opposite to K.R Bakery at Vaduthala. This eatery is actually a one room extended from Mr Georges home where he and his wife serve their home made recipe. This homemade feel is something that makes the food from this place favourite to their customers.
This is a really small eatery with very limited space. There are only very few plastic chairs and tables as furniture and during Friday and Saturday evenings this place overflows with patrons. Open from 4:30 to 8:30 pm, the success this place had among its patrons is just amazing considering their limited menu and space.
