The special mutton dishes got this restaurant on Puthiyakavu, Karunagapally, opposite Puthiyakavu Temple ground a talking point among the foodies in the district. Bharath Café is open from 8 am to 9 pm every day and is best visited during their dinner hours when all their mutton dishes are also available. Mutton Biriyani, Meals, Mutton Chaps, Mutton Roast, Mutton Soup etc. are some of the must try dishes from this restaurant.
When they first started this restaurant in 1963, it was merely a small restaurant, which only served afternoon meals to the travelers. Started like a fairytale story, this restaurant has now gained an iconic status among the travelers on N.H 47, and best known among the gourmets for their incredible mutton dishes served during their dinner hours.
When you are traveling from Karunagapally to Kayamkulam on N.H 47, this restaurant is located on the left side just two kilometers away from Karunagapally town. Almost every variety of mutton dishes is available at this restaurant that serves local Kerala and Chinese cuisine dishes. Mutton Chaps, Mutton Liver, Mutton Soup, Mutton Brain are some of the evening special mutton items. During their lunch hours, Mutton Biriyani and Mutton Roast dishes are available along with Meals, which is also quite popular.
Fresh mutton and the native spices used in the masala is said to give their mutton dishes a special flavor. Their thick flavored mutton roast dish available from the morning is the best to taste this explosion of flavours. As one of their most preferred dish, this formula of spicy taste has seemed to struck a chord with their customers. They shifted to this two-floor restaurant some twenty years ago and have almost all the amenities for travelers. Although no air conditioning might be a slight set back, they have a spacious dining area, with separate dining area on 1st floor for their family customers.
Wooden chairs and granite topped tables, although looking a bit battered from years of use are used as the main furnishing. People’s response to this place might seem to be overwhelming at first for an ordinary hotel from outside. Their lunchtime and dinner rush may not make any sense but go in and taste their dishes and you will perfectly understand what the fuzz is all about.
